It has been a faith-filled, service-filled, and fun-filled month at Owensboro Catholic Middle School.  Throughout the month of January, our students have participated in many activities to help their community while increasing awareness of their faith.  

Our acts of service have included creating cards to send to tornado victims in Composition class, and OCMS students have collected over 225 items to send to BirthRight of Owensboro and St. Joseph’s Peace Mission.  

During 7th Grade Retreat, students learned about many aspects of Mass including how to limit distractions while increasing their comfortability level in the Church. While our 7th graders were at Retreat, our 8th grade students visited OCHS which is always a fun and exciting day. 

Our 8th grade athletes, alongside their families, were able to experience their 8th grade night.  8th graders involved in Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, and Boys Basketball enjoyed their 8th grade night and represented OCMS well.

Lastly, the OCMS Academic Team was highly successful at the 10th District Governor’s Cup.  The OCMS Quick Recall team placed second and includes Kenneth Williams, Michael Calhoun, Grace Calhoun, John Crawford Silvert, Kyler Wilkerson, Nathaniel Hardesty, Trayce Millay, Kori Wilkerson, Tyler Blandford and Kaden Rice.  OCMS Future Problem Solving placed second overall. In Science, Kaden Rice placed fifth while Trayce Millay placed third in Composition.  In Social Studies, Kenneth Williams placed second, and Michael Calhoun placed fourth.  In Language Arts, Grace Calhoun placed third, and John Crawford Silvert placed fifth.  Lastly in Arts and Humanities, John Crawford Silvert placed second, and Kyler Wilkerson placed fourth.  Each of these teams and individuals will be advancing to Regionals.  

 We are very proud of our OCMS students, and we are looking forward to a continued successful second semester.
