French Class Celebrates Epiphany

Mrs. Susan Bartlett’s French II class at OCHS made a galette des rois (a wafer king cake) in celebration of the Epiphany. In the French culture, the Epiphany is always celebrated by eating a galette des rois a few days before or after the Epiphany. The cake has a feve (bean) in the filling, and the person who finds the bean while eating the cake is made king or queen for the day.

Pictured here are French II students making a galette des rois. Audrey Schultz and Bailey Padgett are mixing the filling for the pastry, while Alyssa Frey, Nick O’Bryan, Emilee Cecil, and Madi Cash assist in the preparation.
