Accreditation Site Visit

OCS Families,

As you may know, we have spent most of this year completing our self-study and preparing for the Site Accreditation visit. On Sunday, five administrators from the Diocese of Owensboro will arrive to begin our site visit. The purpose of the Ky NPSC Accreditation Process is designed for the improvement of student learning. It enables schools to define their current reality through a systematic look at the school and an intensive self-study that projects a vision for the future of the school using goals, objectives, strategies, and action steps. During their visit, the accreditation team will identify our system/school strengths that are deserving of commendations and develop recommendations that may help strengthen the overall system.

The team will be focusing on thirteen standards:

1.   Catholic Identity

2.   Mission

3.   Governance

4.  Finance

5.   Plant and Facilities

6.   Administration and Staffing

7.   Curriculum

8.   Instructional Improvement Plan

9.  School Climate

10. School-Community Relationships

11. Institutional Advancement

12. Indicators of Success

13. Co-Curricular and Special Programs

Team members will be visiting each of our schools and speaking with various groups. Once the visit has been completed, the team will develop a narrative report of their findings. This report will be sent to the Non-Public School Commission for review in June. The report will include a recommendation of either Full Accreditation, One-Year Accreditation, or Not Recommended at this Time. We should hear from the Non-Public School Commission concerning our accreditation status sometime this summer.

I appreciate your support and commitment to our schools. This will be a valuable tool in the future to help us grow and maintain the excellence of our schools/system. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Blessings,

Tracy S. Conkright
