Theology Teacher – Owensboro Catholic High School

Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking applicants for a Theology teaching position at Owensboro Catholic High School for the 2020-2021 school year. The candidates must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who is joyfully faithful to the Church’s tradition and teaching. Essential Job Functions

• Strive to achieve the goals of Catholic education by

· Upholding the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church

· Promoting and living the Gospel values and Catholic moral teaching

• Work on or assist with the coordination of spiritual retreats, prayer services, priest visits and various seasonal liturgies

• Use best practices to provide effective instruction and positive, consistent classroom management

• Communicate with students, parents, and other stakeholders in a professional and positive manner

• Function as a cooperative, productive team member at OCHS

• Support and uphold the philosophy and mission of the Catholic Church and the Owensboro Catholic School System

Requirements and qualifications:

• Have a passion for teaching adolescents

• Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church Hold a degree in Theology, Catechetics or related field

• Teaching experience is preferred but not required

• The candidate must be: able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently self-motivated and self-directed with precise attention to detail goal-oriented, organized team player with positive attitude

OCHS – Head Cheer Coach

Owensboro Catholic High School is seeking applicants for the following coaching position starting for the 2021/2022 school year:

OCHS is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Head Cheer Coach to lead in running all team activities. This position will be in charge of the development of the program by working closely with cheerleaders on skill development, teamwork and leadership. Some experience as a competitive cheer coach at the high school or college level preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, administration and parents. Candidates must meet qualifications to be a KHSAA coach. Preferred Practicing Catholic. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a background check.

Owensboro Catholic Schools – Substitute Teacher

Owensboro Catholic Schools is looking for Substitute Teachers. Substitutes may work at the K-3 Campus, 4-6 Campus, Middle School and High School. This is a non-contracted position and work availability varies based on need.

Position Summary: Provide continuation of instruction and management of students in absence of the regular teacher in a variety of content areas and grade levels.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Completion of 64 college credit hours and an official transcript for validation
  • Classroom Management Skills
  • Successfully complete a criminal history and background check

Preferred:

  • Be a retired teacher
  • Hold teaching certification or a Statement of Eligibility
  • Be a Teacher in Training. To qualify in the category, candidates must meet one of the following criteria
    • Be enrolled in a teacher education program and have completed 64 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5, or
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours toward a Master’s degree in Education
  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective continuation of instruction based on lesson plans and/or instructions provided by the regular teacher
  • Effectively communicate assignments and instructions to students and provide assistance
  • Follow all safety and emergency procedures established by the school
  • Supervision of students using proper classroom management techniques
  • Provide detailed notes and feedback to the regular teacher
