Advancement Administrative Assistant – OCS Central Office

The Owensboro Catholic Schools has a job opportunity for an Advancement Administrative Assistant in the OCS Central Office. This position is located at 1524 West Parrish Avenue, Owensboro, Ky.

Position Summary: Working under the supervision of the Director of Advancement at Owensboro Catholic Schools. The full-time hourly position (with some evenings required), oversees and manages all office procedures and other advancement/marketing tasks as assigned by the Director and President.

Qualifications: 

  • Assist Director of Advancement in all areas of donor relations
  • Associate degree in business-related field preferred or high school graduate with five years office experience
  • Must be a team player and possess the ability to relate to a variety of persons
  • Capable of self-direction, multi-tasking, organization, and prioritizing work
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and design publications
  • Experience with creating newsletters and other marketing projects
  • Organizing volunteers for annual fundraising campaign
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat DC, Google Docs, etc.)
  • Possess good writing and problem-solving skills
  • Successfully complete a criminal history and background check

Math Teacher – Owensboro Catholic Middle School

Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking applicants for a full-time Math teacher at OCMS.  The ideal candidate would be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who has a Math Education degree and has a passion for teaching adolescents.  More specific job functions and a calendar of events are available on request.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide daily math instruction for students in grades 7 and 8
  • Use best practices to provide effective instruction and positive, consistent classroom management.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and other stakeholders in a professional and positive manner
  • Function as a cooperative, productive team member at OCMS
  • Support and uphold the philosophy and mission of the Catholic Church and the Owensboro Catholic School System.
  • Chair/Co-chair an extra-curricular club or student organization

Requirements and qualifications:

Have a passion for teaching adolescents

Math Education degree or teaching experience with the ability to pass the middle school math subject exam

Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Must be self-motivated and self-directed with precise attention to detail

Goal-oriented, organized team player with positive attitude

Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required

The successful candidate must pass criminal background check and complete safe environment training for the Diocese of Owensboro before employment can be granted

OCHS – Head Cheer Coach

Owensboro Catholic High School is seeking applicants for the following coaching position starting for the 2021/2022 school year:

OCHS is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Head Cheer Coach to lead in running all team activities. This position will be in charge of the development of the program by working closely with cheerleaders on skill development, teamwork and leadership. Some experience as a competitive cheer coach at the high school or college level preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, administration and parents. Candidates must meet qualifications to be a KHSAA coach. Preferred Practicing Catholic. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a background check.

Owensboro Catholic Schools – Substitute Teacher

Owensboro Catholic Schools is looking for Substitute Teachers. Substitutes may work at the K-3 Campus, 4-6 Campus, Middle School and High School. This is a non-contracted position and work availability varies based on need.

Position Summary: Provide continuation of instruction and management of students in absence of the regular teacher in a variety of content areas and grade levels.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Completion of 64 college credit hours and an official transcript for validation
  • Classroom Management Skills
  • Successfully complete a criminal history and background check

Preferred:

  • Be a retired teacher
  • Hold teaching certification or a Statement of Eligibility
  • Be a Teacher in Training. To qualify in the category, candidates must meet one of the following criteria
    • Be enrolled in a teacher education program and have completed 64 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5, or
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours toward a Master’s degree in Education
  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective continuation of instruction based on lesson plans and/or instructions provided by the regular teacher
  • Effectively communicate assignments and instructions to students and provide assistance
  • Follow all safety and emergency procedures established by the school
  • Supervision of students using proper classroom management techniques
  • Provide detailed notes and feedback to the regular teacher
