Throughout the month of October at Owensboro Catholic Middle School, students have participated in various activities to celebrate their faith, show their school spirit, raise community awareness, and pledge their willingness to be drug free during Red Ribbon Week.
This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme was “Drug Free Looks Like Me” and was highlighted by such activities as Crazy Sock Day, Hat Day, Team Jersey Day, and Red Shirt Day.
Students participated in a variety of fun and educational activities in their classes as well. In science classes, students learned about DNA and extracted DNA from strawberries. In social studies, students learned about the 13 colonies and created pamphlets to teach others about the colonies. In theology, students participated in various group activities to learn about saints throughout Church history. The saints highlighted were primarily of the Hispanic culture, taking advantage of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Lastly, a great deal of fun was had by students at this year’s PTO Halloween party. We appreciate all of our parent volunteers who made this such a successful event.
