Ethos Laboratories is offering free on-site COVID testing for asymptomatic students who are in “close contact” with someone who does NOT live in the same household. This is an optional alternative to the automatic mandatory 7- or 10-day home quarantine from a COVID exposure.
Note—This program does not apply if the COVID positive individual is in the SAME household.
Students in this program will test daily for 5 days upon arrival to school. The sample is collected by an “anterior nasal swab,” which will minimize discomfort since the swab is inserted only approximately one inch (1”) into the nose. If a COVID negative result is received, the student may proceed to class. If a COVID positive result is received, the student will be required to go home and quarantine, and an additional sample will be sent to the Ethos lab for “PCR” testing, in which results will be emailed to the parent in 24 to 48 hours (Ethos goal is results in 24 hours).
Test results will be available in 15 min. If your child wants to eat breakfast at school, we encourage you to get your child to school early for testing.
· K-3 and 4-6 Campus: Parents will be required to accompany their student while being tested and waiting for results. Testing starts daily at 7:00 a.m.
· OCMS: Parent will need to remain on-site (in vehicle) while student is being tested and awaiting results. Testing starts daily at 7:30 a.m.
· OCHS: Parent will need to remain on-site (in vehicle) while student is being tested and awaiting results. This excludes parents of OCHS students who drive themselves to school. Testing starts daily at 7:30 a.m.
If your child has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
and does NOT live in the same household and you want to take part in this service, you will need to: 1. Call the school or send an email to [email protected] to let us know that you want your child to be tested as an alternative to the automatic home quarantine (if applicable).
2. Register your child for the program using the following link: https://www.ethosbacktoschool.com
Parents of students at any of the four OCS sites are encouraged to enroll their child now so this will already be on file to speed up the registration process on testing day. This program is VOLUNTARY, and you may opt your children out of this program at any time, even if you register now.
When you initially enroll your child in the program, you will need to select “Diocese of Owensboro” as their School District (top right corner of the screen). Then you will be able to choose your child’s designated OCS site under the School Name drop-down box.
