OCMS Asst. Principal/Academic Dean

Owensboro Catholic Schools in Owensboro, KY is seeking an Assistant Principal/Academic Dean at Owensboro Catholic Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year.

Owensboro Catholic Schools share in the mission of the Church in communion with families and parishes to provide excellence in Catholic faith formation and academics which prepare students to become responsible individuals as well as members of the family, Church and community.

The Assistant Principal/Academic Dean will be a proven leader with the ability to promote the school’s mission while overseeing academic reporting, special education, standardized testing, and implementing policies and operational objectives. Candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills in the areas of motivation, communication, organization, decision making, conflict prevention and resolution. This role will be to assist and support the principal with the day to day school operations.

The qualified candidate will be a practicing Catholic possessing a minimum of 5 years of administrative/teaching experience with state certification and all required safe environment clearances. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related field or a commitment to pursuing such, and experience in a Catholic school setting.

OCHS Assistant Cheer Coach

OCHS is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Cheer coach to assist the Head coach in running all team activities. This position will help with the development of the program by working closely with cheerleaders on skill development, team work and leadership. Some experience as a competitive cheer coach at the high school or college level preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, administration and parents. Candidates must meet qualifications to be a KHSAA coach. Preferred Practicing Catholic. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a background check.

Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking applicants for a part-time Spanish teacher at OCMS.  The ideal candidate would be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who has a Spanish Education degree or equivalent Spanish language experience and a passion for teaching adolescents.  More specific job functions and a calendar of events are available on request.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide daily introductory and intermediate Spanish courses for recommended students in grades 7 and 8
  • Promote and celebrate Hispanic culture
  • Serve in a translating capacity with Hispanic students/parents, if needed
  • Chair/Co-chair an extra-curricular club or student organization
  • Use best practices to provide effective instruction and positive, consistent classroom management.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and other stakeholders in a professional and positive manner
  • Function as a cooperative, productive team member at OCMS
  • Support and uphold the philosophy and mission of the Catholic Church and the Owensboro Catholic School System.

Requirements and qualifications:

Have a passion for teaching adolescents

Spanish Education degree or equivalent Spanish language experience

Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand Spanish fluently

The ideal candidate would hold a Master of Arts or Rank 1 in School Counseling and have a passion for working with adolescents.  The candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.  More specific job functions and a calendar of events are available on request.

Essential Job Functions

  • Counsel individual students and small groups
  • Provide classroom guidance lessons on current and pertinent topics
  • Generate master schedule and student schedules
  • Support teachers and parents with issues unique to middle school students/adolescents
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new and potential families
  • Maintain strong, positive working relationships with fellow OCS school counselors as well as with those in other districts.
  • Work in partnership with social services, law enforcement, counseling agencies and treatment facilities
  • Understand the ethical responsibilities regarding student privacy and confidentiality
  • Provide counsel that is in accord with the teaching of the Catholic Church

Description: We are looking for dedicated, responsible individual to serve as the Food Service Manager at Owensboro Catholic Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each school day (schedules may vary).

Qualifications:

The employee must:

  • Be able to frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds
  • Have a strong attention to detail
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least five year’s work experience preferred
  • Food Service experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
