Tricia Thompson, daughter of Al and Molly Thompson, has been named a National Merit Semi-Finalist! She is currently dual-enrolled, taking religion courses at Owensboro Catholic High School while also completing her senior year at the Gatton Academy.
She is a Science Bowl team member at Gatton, acts as one of Gatton’s Avatars (student ambassadors for the school), tutors elementary school children through after-school program and has competed in academic team events at the local, regional, and state level from fifth grade to the present. She recently completed a research project at Western Kentucky University, studying planetary nebulae. Thompson is involved in a research project at Western Kentucky University to train amateur astronomers to record measurements and other information during the Aug. 21, 2017 solar eclipse.
