Parish Support for OCS

This past week, I had the opportunity to meet our supporting parish pastors at the first OCS Director-Pastor Meeting on Wednesday, August 24. During this meeting, it was clear that our pastors are committed to supporting Catholic education in Owensboro. While the parishes sacrifice to ensure a quality catholic education is offered in our schools, it is important to recognize the gracious support they provide. Without their continued support, OCS cannot exist. Remember all of our parishes in your prayers and be thankful for their continued support! God bless our parish communities!

Fr. Pat Reynolds’ Historic Exhibit at Brescia University

Fr. Pat Reynolds, Episcopal Vicar and Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes, has his personal art collection on exhibit at Brescia University. His unique collection, which is on display in the Administration Building, depicts the history of the Catholic Church. I had the opportunity to view the exhibit earlier this week when visiting Brescia University. The exhibit is great for those who appreciate art and are interested in learning more about the history of the church. I encourage all in the Catholic Community of Owensboro to take advantage of this opportunity to visit Fr. Pat’s exhibit!

After School K-8 Shuttle Bus Proposal-Update!

A special thank you to all those who responded to our parent feedback survey regarding an after school shuttle bus service.

It is clear there is support and a need for a shuttle service; however, when implementing such a program, the school must consider the logistics of busing, supervision of students, and the overall safety of our school community.

OCMS Bus for After School Activities at OCHS

With those considerations, OCS will offer after school transportation from the OCMS Campus to the OCHS Campus. This service will provide OCMS students with convenient after school transportation to the OCHS Campus for after school activities (band, athletics, etc.). There will be a per family fee for this service. This service will begin on Monday, September 12. Registration information will be provided in the coming week.

*However, due to logistical and supervision issues, OCS will not offer a shuttle bus service between the K-3 Campus and the 4-6 Campus. While OCS strives to meet the needs of our families, we appreciate your support and understanding.

Thank you for supporting Catholic Education in Owensboro, Kentucky!

Blessings,

Gerald E. Schoen, Director
