All OCS Families Must Meet SCRIP Goal

SCRIP is a term that means ‘substitute money’. When you purchase SCRIP, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday items such as food, clothing and other essentials. With every purchase you earn revenue for our schools.

The Owensboro Catholic Schools purchase large amounts of SCRIP from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers at a discount and resell the certificates to families at face value. The discount, typically ranging from 2 to 20 percent, constitutes the revenue that is applied toward a family’s goal.

Each family agrees to generate at least $175 in profit through the SCRIP program during the year, or to buy out of the SCRIP program by paying this amount. This profit, or buy out, is in addition to the tuition rates. At the end of the year, families who have not reached the $175 goal will be billed for the difference. Once you have met your goal, 75% of every profit dollar is earned back by you as a tuition credit for the school year!

Participation in SCRIP is easy. Send your completed order form and payment by way of your child on Tuesdays and Fridays when school is in session. We will pick up orders, pull from our substantial inventory and send them home with your child on the same day after confirming that we have a Delivery Waiver on file.
