Owensboro Catholic was eliminated from the KHSAA Team Tennis Championships by 1st Region power McCracken County in the quarterfinal round on Saturday in Lexington.
Catholic’s boys’ team lost a narrow 3-2 decision to the Mustangs, while the Lady Mustangs won over the Lady Aces, 3-0.
Caleb Buckman won 6-0, 6-3 in singles, and Isaac Settle-Sammy Clore won 6-2, 6-3 in doubles.
Earlier in the day, the Lady Aces opened play with a 3-0 victory over Morgan County, with Caroline Hayden and Caroline O’Nan posting a pair of 6-0, 6-0 singles victories. In doubles, Grace Goedde and Meredith Stiff posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
The Aces’ boys’ team opened play with a 3-0 conquest of Belfry, with Caleb Buckman posting a 6-0, 6-1 win in singles. In doubles, Catholic got a 6-0, 6-0 victory from JT Hayden-Aaron Buckman and a 6-0, 6-0 win from Settle-Clore.
