The annual GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT is a day set aside to help promote living tobacco-free, even if it is just for one day. If you can make it through one day without a cigarette, then maybe it is the start of the day that you quit smoking forever. This month, School Health Services has promoted the importance of living tobacco-free. Our OCHS SCRUBS Officers (Students Creating Respect Using Better Solutions) are featured on posters sponsored by the Green River District Health Department, that are located in several places throughout our community encouraging teens to "Be The Majority" stating the fact that 74% of teens in our community do not smoke. On Tuesday of this week, various members of SCRUBS spent a portion of their lunch time to encourage their OCHS classmates to pledge to live tobacco free or to support someone to “Go Cold Turkey.” Today, students at the OCS Elementary K-3 Campus, OCS Elementary 4-6 Campus, & OCMS will receive stickers &/or pencils donated by the GRDHD reinforcing the good choice to live tobacco-free. Green River District Health Department The SCRUBS officers were part of the morning show on WBKR to draw for the free turkeys. |
