Owensboro Catholic Schools - Kindergarten Programs
We hope you will consider enrolling your child at the Owensboro Catholic Elementary K-3 Campus for Kindergarten. If your child will be starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2010, we are excited to offer two types of Kindergarten Classrooms at the Elementary K-3 Campus:
Traditional Kindergarten Class
Kindergarten Transition Class
Traditional Kindergarten:
Provides children with Best Practice and positive experiences that lay the building blocks of developmentally appropriate learning for children in their first year of Kindergarten
Takes children “where they are” socially, developmentally, and academically in order to
help them develop a solid foundation for learning and success
Criteria for Traditional Kindergarten Class:
Students who may or may not have attended preschool and have not had any previous Kindergarten experience
Students who will be 5 years old by October 1, 2010.
Kindergarten Transition:
Extends the transition from kindergarten to first grade by providing an interim year between Kindergarten and 1st Grade using Best Practice and positive experiences
Gives children the benefit of time to mature and become more confident academically, socially, and emotionally, while allowing them to move forward at a faster pace to ensure a solid foundation for beginning 1st grade the following school year
Criteria for Kindergarten Transition:
Students who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten and would benefit from an additional year of Kindergarten before going to 1st Grade.
