Accelerated Reader
The Accelerated Reader program (AR) at Owensboro Catholic Elementary is a program in which students read a book and take a computer-based test. Accelerated Reader is fun for all kids. Each book is worth a given number of points. If they make a 100% they will earn all the possible points, otherwise the points are pro-rated based on the number of test questions answered correctly. Accelerated Reader helps students with reading comprehension.
The STAR reading test will be given to determine the student's reading level.
Lists of all AR books can be found below (updated as of August 2009) and are on file at the Daviess County Public Library.
This school year (2009-2010) Mrs. Alvey, Mrs. Warren and Mrs. Hartz will be organizing and managing our Accelerated Reading Program. If you have any questions or would like to alter your child’s AR goal due to specific learning needs, you may call Mrs.Hartz or Mrs. Warren. If you wish to alter your child’s AR goal, it must be done before September 8th.
