ocsOffice News

Please mark your calendars for the final events for the school year.  We would love to have you participate in them.

You will notice on the May calendar that we will have “extended school days” on May 7th and 8th.  Each day will be lengthen for 15 minutes to make up the 30 minutes of lost time due to early dismissal or delayed start of the school day.  The buses will leave the elementary school sites at 2:20 and the car riders bells will be 2:30 and 2:45 on both days.  Please call the schools office if you have any questions or concerns.

ocsAccelerated Reader News

Congratulations to all our students for reaching the school wide goal to go to Yellow Creek Park.  The students to date have earned 25146.1 points for the school year.

In order to keep the students reading, we will be having a contest between all the classes.  The class that earns the most AR points for the year will receive an ice cream party.  The students will have until May 23rd to earn these points.

Those students who are reading to reach the 100 point clubs have until May 16th to earn their points.  This will give us time to schedule all the incentives.  Students who still need to reach their quarterly AR goal will have until May 23rd to earn the rest of their points.

Way to go and keep reading!

ocsCafeteria News

Attached you will find the lunch menu for May.  All accounts must be paid in full by May 16th. The last day for power break or extras will be May 16th.  If you have questions about your child’s account or balance for the rest of the school year, please contact Ms. Becky.

LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE 4-6 CAMPUS

ocsThe Mrs. Hardesty and Ms. Smith’s science classes have been studying about the different types of rocks and minerals.  The students worked in groups to perform lab experiments and collect information about minerals.  Through scientific investigations, the students discovered which rocks float and which ones are magnetic.  They also observed the hardness, layers, and weight of different rocks.

Congratulations to Marty Crowe, a sixth grade student, for placing 2nd in the State Future Problem Solving Competition in March.  Way to go Marty!

Mrs. Hardesty’s class said good-bye to their student teacher, Krystal Smith, with refreshments and a new teacher book bag.  Good Luck Ms. Smith.
