Baseball and Softball are available thorugh our local parishes for ages 5 and up.
OWENSBORO CATHOLIC LEAGUE NOTICE: Based on a recommendation from the Owensboro Catholic High School coaches and with support from the parish pastors, the parish athletic directors voted on Sunday December 3, 2007 to re-organize the baseball and softball league.
The league will no longer field teams and play games on a parish based system, but instead will consolidate players and games at one site. The site chosen are the fields located behind St. Pius X Catholic Church on Highway 60 East. With seven existing fields and four batting cages, the location is the site of choice for the consolidated league.
Except for the PeeWee age group, teams shall be formed via player evaluations and age specific drafts. (PeeWee teams shall continue to be church based teams, but will play all games at the consolidated site.)
An interim board of directors has been formed and they will serve a one year term and act in a capacity similar to other area Little League boards. Upon completion of the 2008 season, all board positions will be open and all league members will have the opportunity to nominate and vote on future board members.
In 2007 the Catholic League fielded forty-two teams from seven area parishes. Those teams were comprised of more than five hundred players ranging from five to thirteen years of age. The Catholic League offers baseball for both boys and girls ages 5-12 and softball for girls ages 8-13.
The re-organization will provide greater competition, a consolidated site and future capital improvements. Open to all denominations, The Catholic League offers players and their families a competitive athletic environment guided in faith and rich in tradition.
FEES: $50 one child, $75 two children, $90 three or more children. (Includes concession stand fees and field preparation fees.)
