Teacher Position Announcement for 2013-2014

 Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking applicants for the following teaching/aide positions beginning August 2013:

OCES K-3 Campus – Kindergarten Aides

OCES 4-6 Campus and OCMS – Music teacher

OCES 4-6 Campus – 4th grade teacher

OCMS – Language Arts teacher

Differentiated Learning Specialist – K-6

The Differentiated Learning Specialist (DLS) will assist teachers and act as a consultant in providing instruction to students with learning disabilities as well as with students who are working above grade level. The DLS researches best practice and gives teachers strategies to use in the classroom, and helps with curriculum development and selection. The DLS may work with small groups of students in a direct instruction setting.

The DLS must have a thorough knowledge of data driven instruction, and be able to compile and disseminate data to assist teachers in lesson planning for both individual students and for the whole class. The DLS provides testing and assessments to individual students to help with placement. The DLS keeps up with students who are considered “targeted” or “intensive” in regards to their behavior or academic progress.

The DLS serves as the liaison with the public schools for students who need special services. The DLS communicates with parents of students with special learning needs regarding student progress and helps the teacher and parent develop plans to ensure the success of every child. The DLS also works with teachers to develop classroom management plans and/or behavior plans for specific students.

The DLS assists with or provides Professional Development for teachers/school. The DLS aides and assists the principal in whatever capacity may be needed.

OCMS Academic Dean / Asst. Principal

Owensboro Catholic Schools is seeking applicants to fill the position of Academic Dean and Assistant Principal at Owensboro Catholic Middle School beginning August, 2013.  The Academic Dean will oversee all facets of the school that directly impact student learning.  This will include assisting with classroom instruction, managing all standardized testing and data, and developing individualized plans for fostering success for all students.  In addition, the Academic Dean serves as Assistant Principal, assisting when needed and/or serving as acting Principal in the absence of the Principal.  The candidate should possess the following:

  • Knowledge relative to both traditional and current pedagogical theories and applications that relate to effective teaching
  • Knowledge and skills in peer counseling and mentoring
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of academic standards as related to instructional planning and curriculum.

Food Service Manager – Elementary 4-6 Campus

The Diocese of Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic Schools are seeking applicants to fill the position of Food Service Manager at the Owensboro Catholic Elementary School 4-6 Campus beginning August, 2013.  The responsibilities of the Food Service Manager include:

  • Attend training sessions and workshops planned for and required of School Food Service Managers
  • Maintain a file of all production and financial records for three years plus the current year
  • Organize and supervise all employee work assignments for meal production, kitchen cleaning, and maintenance scheduling
  • Purchase, receive, check, and sign for deliveries
  • Plan and implement activities which involve students, parents, and teachers in the program as required by law
  • Plan and implement a collection procedure which yields an accurate collection and recording of meal count by category at this point of service
  • Provide daily count and cash after service
  • Conduct a  daily inventory of all USDA foods according to program guidelines
  • Conduct end of the month physical inventories of all purchased and USDA foods
  • Provide  statements for accurate pricing and extensions
  • Make daily deposits
  • Estimate annually the required pre-costs
  • Implement the new menu tool

The Food Service Manager must have strong interpersonal skills and have a working knowledge of computers, in particular Microsoft Excel and Word.
