As we close in on our 25th Anniversary as a Catholic consolidated school system (to be celebrated in 2014-2015), we have many reasons to be thankful. Most importantly we thank you for the awesome privilege and honor you provide us through your choice of Owensboro Catholic Schools as your Catholic education partner. Please know that we understand and celebrate the investment you make to provide your children a quality, Catholic education and our responsibility to live and fulfill the OCS Mission with fervent dedication and prayerful devotion. The 2012-2013 OCS Budget, recently approved by Fr. John Vaughan, the Education Council and Finance Committee, was purposefully and prayerfully crafted to provide an operational budget that would allow us to continue to meet your expectation of providing excellence in faith formation and academics.
Enclosed with this letter you will find an information sheet detailing the various tuition rates (Parish Sponsored, Non-Parish Sponsored and Catholic from Non OCS Parish) for the 2012-2013 school year. Given the continuing uncertain economic times, every effort was made to minimize the tuition impact on our partner families. I am pleased to inform you of the following:
- The base line tuition rate will increase by a modest 2% compared to a 3% increase for the 2011-2012 school year.
- Your continued investment, along with all families who choose Owensboro Catholic Schools, will provide 56.7% our projected revenue need of $8,391,068 in the 2012-2013 Budget.
- Our parish partners provide 35.8% of the revenue need by way of the Parish Subsidy.
- Income from fund raisers, endowment and other means provide 7.5%.
The bottom line – we want to continue as your partner. As in the past, OCS will continue to provide opportunities to offset the investment you will make to provide your children an incredible gift that will last their lifetime and beyond.
- Tuition Assistance: The 2012-2013 OCS Budget has set aside $910,000 (10.8% of the revenue need) to be awarded in need-based tuition assistance. An electronic version of the form is available. All families interested in receiving tuition assistance are highly encouraged to apply by February 15 to be included in the first round or awarding. Please Note - All aid to current families must be awarded by August 1, 2012
- SCRIP SUCCE$$: The dollars provided through SCRIP SUCCE$$ directly impact you in two important ways. Since the program began about 10 years ago, SCRIP SUCCE$$ has provided over $1,000,000 in tuition relief in the operational Budget. Incredible! In 2011-2012, OCS families earned approximately $120,000 in tuition rebates used to off-set their 2011-2012 tuition invoice by earning 75% of all profits after meeting their required profit goal. Please Note - The SCRIP SUCCE$$ goal for each Parish Sponsored family will remain at $175.
- New Family Grant: Any family who does not have a student enrolled in 2011-2012 is eligible to receive a $250 New Family Grant in 2012-2013. This grant is available regardless of applying for tuition assistance (through PSAS)
The OCS Mission statement boldly states that our task, in partnership with our families and parishes, is to provide a religious and academic education that prepares our students to become responsible members of family, church and community. The continued and daily focus on this mission has provided the foundation for the many successes and accomplishments of our students and graduates over these past almost 25 years. Speaking for all members of the OCS team, please accept our pledge to continue to allow the Mission to provide a foundational vision that can only be realized with a strong and vibrant Owensboro Catholic Schools today, tomorrow and into the foreseeable future.
