SCRIP SUCCE$$

SCRIP is a term that means ‘substitute money.’ When you purchase SCRIP, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday expenses such as food, clothing, and other essentials. With every purchase you earn revenue for our schools.

The Owensboro Catholic Schools purchase large amounts of SCRIP from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers at a discount and re-sells the certificate to families, like yours, for full face value. The discount, from 2 to 20 percent or more, is the revenue that is applied toward a family’s goal.

Each parish-sponsored family agrees to generate at least $160 in profit through the SCRIP program during the year, or to buy out of the SCRIP program by paying this amount. This profit or buy out is in addition to the tuition rates. At the end of the year, families who have not reached the $160 goal will be billed for the difference. Once you have met your goal, 75% of every profit dollar is earned back by you.

Participation in SCRIP is easy. Inventory is kept on hand at our office so most SCRIP orders can be filled the same day. When school is in session, you can fill out an order form and send it along with your payment to school with your child. We will pick up orders, fill them and return them to your child on the same day.

The SCRIP year for the 2007-2008 school year begins June 1 and ends May 31, 2008. The SCRIP office is located at 1524 W. Parrish Ave., at the rear of Owensboro Catholic High School and is open year round for all your SCRIP needs.

If you have any questions, please call the SCRIP office at 852-8033.
